LOS ANGELES

February 21, 2017 Los Angeles, CA, USA

I went back to LA after watching La La Land (if you didn't watch it...you have to!) to rediscover parts of LA I didn't have a chance to go to. I went last September, but felt like I didn't spend enough time. After watching La La Land twice, I booked my ticket last month and counted down the days. My main goal was to hike up to the Hollywood Sign (what a fail, I didn't get to go) and go to the LA flower market (didn't get to go there either), but still had an amazing trip. I would go back to LA in a heartbeat but am hoping to go to San Diego next time I'm in Cali.

Here's my schedule for day one:
-I arrived to LAX around noon and headed to the Line Hotel to check in. I was so excited to stay at the Line Hotel because of the view and rave reviews, but I was honestly very disappointed. Yes, the view is amazing but awful customer service.
-After checking in I went to the Commissary in the Line Hotel for lunch. Beautiful greenhouse!
-Headed to Little Tokyo (always a must!) and walked around. Bought some face masks and went into the shops before going into Snociety for a poke bowl. So good! They have dairy-free bobas which are amazing as well, recommend going here if you're in the area!
-For dessert, my sister and I headed to Salt & Straw for a scoop of their ice cream. I have a dairy allergy so I got their vegan ice cream - yum.
-I went to the gym before heading back to my room and called it a night.

Here's my schedule for day two:
-First things first. Took lyft to go get coffee at Maru Coffee. Beautiful space and amazing coffee. My sister and I got the matcha latte and vanilla bean latte. One word - wow. Their vanilla bean latte is a must! You can also pick up a free copy of "Notes to a Friend", I brought one back and it's about Yuri Angela Chung's "notes" to her friends about her experience with breast cancer. Very raw and real, I cried while reading "Mama".
-Went to Rawberri to get acai bowls and then walked to Trader Joe's to buy water and bananas.
-Took lyft to go to the famous "Made in LA" wall and the Pink wall. The "Made in LA Wall" is located on 8025 Melrose Ave (Cisco Home store) and the Pink wall is located at the Paul Smith store on Melrose. They're walking distance to each other and there are shops along the way if you want to take a break and shop. One tip is that at the Pink wall you can only take photos with your iPhone, no professional cameras allowed.
-Walked around Melrose Ave. and went inside Bookmarc to look around.
-Took lyft again to go to Santa Monica. Gorgeous beach and so many shops! Went to Flower Child and shopped before heading to the pier and watch the sunset on the beach. I'll have a separate post for Santa Monica Beach!
-Headed back to the hotel before going to dinner at BCD Tofu House. Popular spot in Koreatown, I went there around 10pm and it was packed, recommend if you love tofu and Korean food.

Santa Monica post will be up next!

Love, Sharon
